  6. For those who normally don't read ReadMe's! Read it - it's only 2 pages!
  7.  
  8. First things first, this version of Roketz is freeware, unauthorized 
  9. distribution is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
  10.  
  11. If you have older PD version than 2.25 then here's list of what's the 
  12. difference between 1.x and 2.25:
  13.  
  14. * Should not crash (i.e. many lame bugs fixed)
  15. * Improved gameplay
  16. * CPU player's AI upgraded
  17. * Eats a bit less memory - so it should work with large HD no fastmem combo
  18.   (best is still to boot without startup-sequence to gain free mem)
  19. * Sounds should be ok on every machine now (even on 40 MHz MC040)
  20. * Keyboard controls should work fine now
  21. * You can quit back to Workbech pressing Ctrl+Escape in main menu
  22. * Loads a bit faster
  23. * HD installer included
  24. * User selectable control method (keyboard, joy)
  25. * Now even works on CD32 ;)

  27. Now, if you find this piece of gameware entertaining, tension-breaking and
  28. FUN, then check out the following how to get your personal copy of the
  29. full version of Roketz including:
  30.  
  31.   - 6 worlds of raytraced battlegrounds featuring active background elements as
  32.     cannons, teleporters, forcefields etc.
  33.   - 4 customized roketz
  34.   - lots of different weapons and upgrades

  38. Registration fee for the Roketz full game is 10 UK pounds, 15 US Dollars
  39. or 25 DM (that's German currency you know ;). Visit your local bank to 
  40. convert your money into any of the above mentioned currencies. 
  41. Due to outrageously big amount of money banks charge for international 
  42. transactions, the only sane way to send the registration fee
  43. is cash via mail. We strongly advise you to camouflage the money so it can
  44. not be detected before the lawful owners (i.e. us) open it. Otherwise it's
  45. rather likely that we don't receive it at all. The best way is to put the
  46. money between a christmas card and stick it in an envelope. The cuter card
  47. the better :). And remember - NO COINS. State your full name (or the name
  48. you want the ROKETZ registred to) and your postal address so we can send
  49. the full release directly to you. We are also interested to know the
  50. configuration of your machine and where did you get the PD version from.
  51. You could include your e-mail address if you have one.
  52. Bug reports, suggestions etc. are welcome too. And don't forget 
  53. that snailmail is not instantaneous.

  97. Last minute notes:
  98.  
  99. Roketz can be installed to HD using script for Commodore's HD installer
  100. (Installer itself is not included with this archive)
  101.  
  102. Important! When playing from disk remember to unprotect it and keep 
  103. it in disk drive while playing if you want the status and scoring system 
  104. to work properly.
  105. When started from HD then no assigns must be made, just make sure all
  106. data files are in same directory with Roketz, also make sure that
  107. diskfont.library and mathtrans.library are present in your libs: - these
  108. are needed too.
  109. If you use the HD installer then it'll copy all necessary stuff (except 
  110. libs, you should have them on your HD anyway) to your HD so you don't 
  111. have to worry about anything.

  113. If you have HD and no fastmem then you MIGHT have problems running Roketz
  114. - it eats a lot memory so disable all external hardware and/or boot without
  115. startup-sequence.

  118. About the gameplay:

  120. If you seem to die more then three times in a minute, read the docs 
  121. and practice a little with the slowest engine. The game will not be true
  122. fun before you have really mastered the skill of flying.

  124. You should read the ingame docs (at least once ;) to get the most out of
  125. the Roketz!
